PROPOSED EXTENSION TO EXISTING PEOPLE'S BANK BRANCH OFFICE BLDG. AT KATUNYAKA. CONTRACT NO.30/2010

• The Building Engineer, People’s Bank No.75, Sir Chittampalam A Gardiner Mawatha, Colombo – 02 now invites sealed bids from eligible and qualified bidders for the Construction of Proposed Extension To Existing People’s Bank Branch Office Bldg. at Katunayaka as described below and estimated to cost Rs.7.0 Million ( excluding VAT) .
  
  The  project consist of construction of two storied building ( approx. floor area of 1500 Sq.ft.) which  comprise of Reinforced Concrete Structure, brick masonry infill walls, finishes and services etc. The site is situated at the People’s Bank Branch Office premises at  No.335, Colombo Road, Katunayaka.

            The construction period is 150 calendar days.

• Bidding will be conducted through National Competitive Bidding Procedure.

• To be eligible for contract award the successful bidder shall not have been black listed and shall meet the following requirement.

Registered with the Institute for Construction Training and Development ( ICTAD) for Grade M6/C7 or above in the field of Building Construction.

• Qualification requirements to qualify for contract award include,

• Average annual volume of construction work performed in the last five years shall be at least Rs.25 Mn.

• Experience in the construction of 02 storied building of at least Rs.7.0 Mn completed within 05 months or a higher valued project within a proportionate time period during last 05 years.

• The minimum amount of liquid assets and/or credit facilities already approved(after setting apart for other contractual commitments) and exclusive of any advance payments which may be made under this Contract shall be not less than Rs.1.5 Mn.

• Interested bidders may obtain further information from Building Engineer, Engineering Services Department, People’s Bank, Head Office building, 6th Floor, Sir Chittampalam A. Gardiner Mawatha, Colombo –02 (Tel: 2473206/2481373) and inspect the bidding documents during normal working hours from  23.08.2010 until 09.09.2010.

• A complete set of Bidding Documents in English language may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of written application to the Building Engineer at above address from 23.08.2010 until 09.09.2010 from 9.00 hrs to 16.00 hrs upon payment of a non refundable fee of Rs.3,000/- in cash.   
        
  
•  Sealed Bids shall be deposited in the Tender Box available at the office of the Building Engineer, Engineering Services Dept., 6th Floor, People’s Bank Head Office Bldg., No. 75, Sir Chittampalam A. Gardiner Mawatha, Colombo – 02 or sent by registered post addressed to the Building Engineer, Engineering Services Dept. of the above address to reach him on or before 15.00 hrs on 13.09.2010. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened soon after closing in the presence of the bidders` representatives who choose to attend.

• Bids shall be valid up to 90 days from the date of closing of Bids.

• All bids shall be accompanied by a Bid-Security of Rupees Seventy Thousand   (Rs.70,000/-) obtained from a commercial bank other than People’s Bank which shall be valid up to 120 days from the date of closing of Bids.

Tender documents could be obtained from the following address upon payment of Rs. 1,500/- per tender as a non-refundable tender fee from the under mentioned office between 9.00 a.m. and 12.00 noon as indicated above on working days of the bank up to 10.08.2010 and all tender conditions will be issued along with the tender document.

Perfected tender document should be accompanied by a Bank Guarantee/Bid Bond from a Commercial Bank (Other than People’s Bank) acceptable to the People’s Bank for 2% of the total estimated cost valid for a minimum period of 180 calendar days from the day of opening the tender.  Bank Pay Orders / Bank Drafts are also acceptable in lieu of Bid Bonds.  Cheque drawn by the tenderer will not be accepted.  The offers without the Bid Bond / Bank Guarantee will be rejected.

1. Sealed tenders may be sent by registered post or deposited in the tender box kept at this Department at No. 30/101, Kew Road, Colombo 02. Tenders will be opened on at 2.00 p.m. on 10.08.2010…Tenders received after 2.00 p.m. will be rejected and return unopened.

1. The Bank reserves to itself the right of rejecting any or all bids or cancels the whole tender and the right of accepting any portion of a tender without assigning any reasons and bank is not bound to accept the lowest tender.
