State banking giant, People’s Bank recently marked the conclusion of the ‘Vanitha Vasana Month’, declared by the Bank from March 8 – April 8, with a grand draw held on 14 April at all its branches. A ‘Vanitha Vasana’ draw was held at the Bank’s main New Year function at ITN’s ‘Suriya Mangallaya 2008’ held in Meewanapalana, Horana as well. The draw was held under the patronage of Chief Guest Madam Kusum Wickremanayake, wife of Hon. Rathnasiri Wickremanayake, the Prime Minister. She is also the Chairperson of the Seva Vanitha Unit of the Prime Minister’s Office.

All ‘Vanitha Vasana’ savings certificates obtained during the ‘Vanitha Vasana Month’ were entered in to this grand draw. The lucky winners of the draw were given the opportunity of doubling the value of these savings certificates. A tribute to the women of Sri Lanka, the People’s Bank ‘Vanitha Vasana Month’ proved to be a great success in rewarding these courageous women.
