People's Bank will joined thousands of Sri Lankans across the island to celebrate the Sinhala and Tamil New Year which fell on the 14th of April 2005. All People's Bank branches, Pawning and Savings Centers across the island were kept open on Thursday the 14th of April 2005 from 7.30am onwards in order to facilitate the traditional New Year transactions. |
People's Bank also launched the "Avurudu Ganu Denu Savings Certificate" which were available at all the People's Bank branches, Pawning and Savings Centers through out the island. As a token of appreciation and also keeping in line with the age old "Ganu Denu" tradition, People's Bank presented all its New Year customers with a unique gift, while customers who deposited Rs. 15,000 and above in a "Avurudu Ganudenu Savings Certificate" for a period of one year received an attractive wall clock as a New Year gift from People's Bank. All "Avurudu Ganudenu Savings Certificate" holders were also entered in to the "Jaya Shri" draw which offers a range of attractive prizes on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
People's Bank pioneered the traditional Sinhala and Tamil New Year "Ganu Denu" custom within the local banking industry way back in 1973.
