The employees of the People's Bank Gampaha/Chilaw regional office initiated another social responsibility project with the support of the bank. The team undertook the refurbishment of ward No: 16 of the Colombo North General Hospital in Ragama which was completed with an investment of Rs. 800,000. While the bank made a contribution of Rs. 200,000 towards this worthy cause the balance funds totaling to Rs. 600,000 was donated by the employees of the regional office. |

The refurbished unit was handed over to the Hospital Management by the CEO/General Manager of People's Bank - Mr. Asoka de Silva, in the presence of the DGM - HR & Est of People's Bank, Mr. T. Karunasena, the Director General of Health Services - Dr. H A P Kahandaliyanage, Director Teaching Hospitals - Dr. Palitha Maheepala, Director Colombo North General Hospital - Mr. Mahanama Rajamanthrie and Asst. General Manager People's Bank - Mr. P Rajapakse. The Management & staff of the People's Bank Gampaha/Chilaw regional office and staff of the hospital were also present on the occasion.
Since its inception in 1961, People's Bank has contributed continuously towards social development with investments in projects that benefit the nation. The bank also encourages its employees to undertake such projects that would help uplift the living standards of the community and constantly supports these initiatives through the provision of funds in order to help fast track these projects. The bank has also initiated several projects to help the victims of the recent tsunami disaster.
