RFC Accounts

Resident Foreign Currency Account

The People's Bank operates foreign currency accounts for Sri Lankan citizens and foreign nationals too, resident in Sri Lanka. These accounts could be either fixed or savings and are offered with attractive rates of interest.

Resident Foreign Currency Account Can be Opened as

• Savings Accounts

• Fixed Deposit Accounts

      Minimum Initial Deposit,

•  Savings Accounts - USD 500.

•  Fixed Deposit Accounts - USD 1000.            

      RFC Accounts can be opened in,

• US Dollars
• Singapore Dollars
• Canadian Dollars
• Sterling Pounds
• Australian Dollars
• Euro
• Swiss Francs

Deposits to RFC Accounts

• Inward remittances received through Authorized Dealers.
• Foreign exchange brought into the country by the account holder with a declaration to the customs.

Withdrawals from RFC Account

• Withdrawals could be made in Sri Lanka Rupees over the counter.
• Remittances abroad freely allowed.
• Transfers to another RFC Account.
• Make any domestic payment by converting to rupees.

Account can be maintained even after the balance is less than USD 500 or equivalent  foreign currency.
