PC House, the foremost IT solutions providers in Sri Lanka has entered into a strategic partnership with the People's Bank, that will help to improve IT penetration in Sri Lanka.
The two organizations signed a MOU recently to initiate a customised Easy payment Plan termed, "People's PC", whereby all People's Bank account holders and employees are offered a special loan scheme to purchase any IT related product or service from PC House.
The "People's PC" scheme will enable all People's Bank customers, card holders and employees to purchase Panora branded PCs, laptops etc. along with other IT related products and services that are offered by PC house.
Commenting about this new program, CEO/MD of PC House SHM Rishan said, "We have found out that the IT literacy rate in Sri Lanka is only around 10% while the population that owns a PC remains at a drastically low level of around 7-8%. Out of this the rural penetration remains at an insignificant state. Further, IT has been made a compulsory subject in our schools' curriculum but we have identified that due to high costs of IT products most people are finding it hard to own a computer. Therefore, we believe an arrangement like this with a bank will give an opportunity to a large cross section of our population to own a reliable, good quality computer, at an affordable price."
In order to qualify for this special loan scheme, one needs to be above 18 years of age and an account holder of People's Bank. The respective People's Bank branch managers will decide on the credit worthiness of the client and the down payment required. The customers can choose between a 12 to 36 month payment plan. This will be an ideal opportunity to own a home PC for many Sri Lankan's as the People's Bank has over 600 branches Islandwide with a customer base that is over 10 million.
PC house is considered as one of the very few organizations that has emerged, grown and managed to sustain its business stature in the highly competitive local IT arena. The company has managed to maintain an exponential growth during the past few years and now has a market share of 64% of the Personal Computers category. Recently it opened a manufacturing unit in Colombo 15 to assemble Panora PCs in Sri Lanka with a Rs. 1.2 billion investment. PC House caters to IT needs of the public sector, the corporate sector and the individual domestic customer and has 34 branches Islandwide to cater to the demands of each target group.
PC House is a subsidiary of the heavily diversified PCH Holdings (Pvt) Ltd. that has ventured into other sectors such as pharmaceuticals and healthcare, office automation, consumer electronics, software, audiovisual, automobiles and property development.
