POST – Tsunami Coastal Rehabilitation And Resource Management Programme (Ptcrrmp) Loan Scheme
This loan scheme has been introduced by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka in compliance with an agreement entered into by the Government of Sri Lanka with the International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFDA), with the objective of providing funds for income generating activities of the communities adversely affected by Tsunami disaster.
- Advancement of various new profitable income generating activities of communities adversely affected by Tsunami disaster.
- To assist to recover their assets and re-establish the foundation of their usual economic activities.
- Enhancement of management skills of these communities.
- Improvement of women participation in these activities.
- PROJECT AREA
The project will be implemented in the districts of Kaluthara, Galle. Mathara, Hambanthota, Ampara, Batticaloa and Trincomalee.
- Applicant should be a citizen of Sri Lanka, who resides in a Tsunami affected district where the programme is implemented.
- Projects for which loans are applied should be in operation within the areas relevant to the loan scheme.
- Should be a person within the age group of 18-55.
- Applicant should not be a borrower or a guarantor of a defaulted loan of any financial institution.
- Should be a project with a repayment capacity and a sound cash flow.
- Applicant should not be a recipient of loan facilities of another institution or under another similar loan scheme.
- Should employ a cluster approach in order to assure successful and efficient income generation.
- A minimum of 10% of the estimated total project cost should be borne by the applicant by way of cash or in kind.
- Applicants should be persons capable of providing securities as determined by the Bank.
- The customers for whom loans are considered under the above loan scheme should be persons who conduct their business activities in compliance with the laws and legislations and environmental rules and regulations enforced in Sri Lanka.
- Priority should be given to women and members of under privileged (below the poverty line) groups.
- Ishery related activities
- Collection of mussels and oysters.
- Crab fattening in cages.
- Farming of ornamental fish.
- Cultivation of indigenous and exotic ornamental plants.
- Repair crafts and maintenance of fishing crafts.
- Supply and sale of fishing gear.
- Wholesaling and retailing of fish.
- Fish drying, filleting, packing, Tuna processing and specialized fish products.
- Agriculture based activities – Coir, coconut shells, charcoal etc.
- Food processing – Dairy processing, sweets, snacks, bakery.
- Small Industry and handicrafts.
- Livestock – Poultry/rabbit/turkey farming.
- Services – Secretarial services.
- Tourism related activities and diving.
