The innovative state banking giant, People’s Bank marked the conclusion of the Vanitha Vasana draw, which was the culmination of a month-long programme, where the Bank declared March 8 – April 8 as the People’s Bank ‘Vanitha Vasana Month’ to coincide with the International Women’s Day, on March 8.

Draws were held on April 14 at all branches and service centers of People’s Bank to coincide with the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, creating many a lucky winner. Similarly, a draw was held at the main New Year function in Tangalle under the patronage of Dr. P. A. Kiriwandeniya, Chairman, People’s Bank and members of the corporate management. The Chief Guest at the occasion was His Excellency President Mahinda Rajapakse who was at the branch to conduct the traditional New Year ‘Ganu Denu’. Also present were Gotabhaya Rajapakse, Defense Secretary and Vice Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda, Commander of the Navy. The lucky winner at the Tangalle branch, picked out by His Excellency, President Mahinda Rajapakse was Ms. D. W. P. Kuruneru.

The bank issued Vanitha Vasana Savings Certificates, and all such Certificates obtained during the Vanitha Vasana month were entered in to a grand draw. The lucky winners of the Vanitha Vasana draw were given the opportunity of doubling their savings. People’s Bank’s tribute to the women of Sri Lanka, the ‘Vanitha Vasana Month’ proved to be a great success in rewarding the women of the nation.
